Mixed news has come out of news outlets in Tamil Nadu about its chief minister's condition. Some had earlier claimed that she had died, while the hospital has dismissed it as just a rumour. The hospital said that she suffered a cardiac arrest last night and was in critical condition. The Singapore consulate in Chennai advised: "Awareness is the best way to be safe. Review your personal security plans; remain aware of your surroundings, including local events; and monitor local news stations for updates and heed the instructions of the authorities. Maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security. You should exercise caution and avoid areas in the vicinity of any large gatherings such as Apollo hospital. We will also keep you posted should the situation worsen."
