Bugis eatery charges extra for “high-end” chopsticks from China, customer considers lodging complaint to CASE

 

Singapore — Should customers bear additional costs for eating utensils when they dine-in at restaurants? One woman did not seem to think so, after learning that her daughter was charged an additional $.50 for chopsticks, to the point that she is now considering lodging a complaint with the Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE).

A woman, Ms Chen, said that her 26-year-old daughter ordered barbecue at a restaurant on Prinsep Street, at Bugis, where she shared a meal with her colleagues on Nov 6.

Spore’s largest data breach affects 5.9 million RedDoorz hotel booking site customers

  Singapore — Nearly 5.9 million Singaporean and Southeast Asian customers of hotel booking site RedDoorz had their personal data leaked, making the incident Singapore’s largest data breach. Loss-making startup RedDoorz was found to have compromised the personal security of 5.9 million customers in what the government called the largest data breach since Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act came into force in 2013. Maori tribe tells anti-vaxxers to stop using its haka to spread their message

Ngāti Toa, a Maori iwi, or tribe, has sent a clear message to anti-vaccination groups asking them to stop using one of New Zealand’s best-known “haka” battle challenges, the “Ka Mate.”

In a statement quoted by Radio New Zealand, Dr Taku Parai of Pou Tikanga said “As descendants of Te Rauparaha, we insist that protesters stop using our taonga (heritage) immediately. We do not want our Tupunas (ancestors) or our iwi (tribe) to associate with their messages.”

Singapore — Fighting cancer is a battle one never asks for, but when called upon, most people do their utmost to fight bravely.

This is certainly true of Mr Anthony Lee, who had to face different health issues—some more severe than others—in his life, as well as in the lives of his father and young daughter.
