Muslims here “somewhat more distant”? - 3 social media posts that debunk Minister Shanmugam's views

In a hard-hitting Speech delivered at the SRP Distinguished Lecture and Symposium organised by the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies on January 19, Law and Home Affairs Minister, K Shanmugam, observed that the "Muslim population (in Singapore is) growing somewhat distant from the rest of our society”. This publication reported at that time that a blogger, Zayed Talib, disagreed with the Minister's view and said that Muslims here actually "welcome the opportunity to engage with our non-Muslim neighbours as evident in the picture below.” These three social media posts may debunk Minister Shanmugam's view of the Muslim community here. 1.
