WP volunteer & sexual assault survivor ‘hurt beyond anything’

Singapore — In the wake of the Raeesah Khan scandal, a self-described sexual assault survivor and Workers’ Party volunteer expressed hurt and disappointment in a Facebook post on the NUSWhispers page on Tuesday (Dec 7).

“I defended RK as a hero that was protecting the identity of other SA survivors. I defended the party as not knowing RK lied and thus had integrity.

Singapore woman dies in UK hotel, husband arrested for murder

Singapore — Fong Soong Hert was arrested for the murder of his wife, Pek Ying Ling, after she was found in a Newcastle city centre luxury apartment complex.

Madam Pek, 51, was discovered not breathing at the County Aparthotel, Westgate Road, at 7:15 am (3:15 pm Singapore time) on Dec 6. A short time later, emergency crews pronounced her dead.

10TH ANNIVERSARY OF FREEDOM FILM FEST SINGAPORE

Singapore — This year, FreedomFilmFest Singapore (FFFSG) celebrates 10 years of documentary film screenings in Singapore, starting from tomorrow, Dec 10. FFFSG kickstarts its anniversary celebrations, presenting two works from their Film Lab.

‘There to Document’, a short film that tells the story of how this festival began in Singapore and how it managed to survive without government funding and shifting media laws. They will also be screening the films of their four past grant winners:

‘1987: Untracing the Conspiracy’ by Jason Soo; ‘Trailer Boys’ by Yusri Sapari (Shaggy); ‘An Online Citizen’ by Calum Stuart and ‘The Shades of Love’ by Jessica Lee
