LETTER: 7 days and still Singhealth did not act on a simple complaint

The following is a letter by one of our reader, Chatterbox. -- The picture shows the waterlogged path of the pedestrian and wheelchair persons entrance to the Tampines Polyclinic. It was taken on 17 May 2016. I sent information of the waterlogged path to the Municipal Services Offices (MSO) using their onservice mobile app. On 20 May, Ms Rosanne Too, manager of MSO forwarded the message to Singhealth Polyclinics. However, when I passed by Tampines Polyclinics this morning (24 May), I noticed that the problem was still not resolved by Singhealth The waterlogged path creates health and safety related problems:

1. The path which is now waterlogged provides better accessibility to wheelchair-bound patients. With the condition it is in now, it is a safety risk to such users.
2. it is a health risk because the waterlogged path is now a potential breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Of the two, mosquito breeding is far more serious, and Singhealth being a public health provider must know the seriousness of mosquito breeding and the danger it poses to the public. The very least Singhealth could have done is, ask its cleaners to clear the water. Sadly, this was not done. Perhaps National Environment Agency should intervene and make sure that no mosquitoes are breeding at the site. -- Readers may send your letters to [email protected].
