A violent brawl between several men erupted at a coffee shop along Lorong 18 Geylang around 3am last Saturday. It appears that the fight broke out as several men stepped in during a dispute between a married couple. Facebook page SGchineseclub - the page that posted the video of the fight on social media - claimed that the crowd became nasty after a man beat up his mother but a stallowner reported that the incident was actually triggered by a quarrel between a husband and wife: "The husband quarrelled with the wife, and passers-by intervened to stop the fight." https://www.facebook.com/SGchineseclub/videos/190077678361657/ In the video, a woman who appears to be middle-aged can be seen lying on the floor before being helped up as several men can be seen embroiled in a heated argument. As other patrons watch, the argument morphs into an all out brawl as the men begin attacking one another with their fists and the nearby plastic chairs. Screams can be heard as the men whack each other violently with the chairs. The Singapore Police Force was reportedly alerted to a case of voluntarily causing hurt at Lorong 18 Geylang at 3.07am. Investigations are ongoing.
