Al-Masry Al-Youm said the Alexandria city’s Security Directorate Mostafa al-Nimr was probably the target of a bomb attack in Egypt. A policeman and a driver were killed and at least one person was injured but the security chief escaped without any injuries. The attack took place on Saturday when a car bomb detonated in Alexandria’s Roushdy area, official sources told al-Masry Al-Youm. The sources said that security services rushed to the scene of the explosion and carried out a large-scale combing operation without finding any other explosives. Ambulances transported the victims to a nearby hospital. The Interior Ministry sources said that al-Nimr escaped the attack and that he is in good health. The attack indicates a rise in instability in Egypt ahead of elections.
