Indonesian artists don local designer outfits on their appointment as parliamentarians

A total of 575 members of the Indonesian Parliament elected for the 2019-2024 period, were inaugurated yesterday October 1, 2019 and they wore expensive locally designed traditional clothes for the occasion.
Fourteen of them were local artists, among them internationally renowned singers Mulan Jameela and Krisdayanti.
One of the artists, Mulan Jameela wore a traditional but modified outfit from the Bugis, Makssaree tribe. She is the wife of Ahmad Dhani, an Indonesian rock musician.

She revealed that a prominent Indonesian designer, Didiet Maulana designed her clothes.
"This is me wearing a bodo shirt, designed by Didiet Maulana," said Mulan Jameela when met by the members of the media at the Parliament complex, Senayan, South Jakarta, Tuesday.
She also said the clothes she was wearing were made according to specifications to fit the inauguration dress code of DPR members.
She was elected a member of the House of Representatives or DPR for the West Java District of West Java XI in the Garut Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency and Tasikmalaya City.

Renowned singer Krisdayanti was dressed in a classic Javanese dress for the ceremony. She wore a red kebaya during the inauguration designed by Anne Avantie. The red kebaya is combined with Jarik Wiru and batik shawls.
